Whippet Mix Dog for Adoption in Greenbelt, Maryland, 20768 USNickname: Athena Dog Breed: Whippet / Mixed. Athena is a delicate beauty, described by our volunteers as "doe-like." She is a nice small size, a bit shy, and warms up quickly to friendly dogs and humans. She would do well with a doggie buddy who can help her build her confidence. Athena loves walks, is beautiful when she runs (perhaps a bit of miniature greyhound?) and would make a great companion for an active person, or someone who enjoys hiking or running. Her foster tells us Athena occupies herself most of the day by playing with her array of toys! She LOVES squeakers and stuffies, but also enjoys a PB filled Kong! When her foster is working from home Athena enjoys sleeping next to her in her bed. Athena is good with cats. She is playful with her foster cat sibling. Athena is learning manners at her fosters. Overall, she is fairly calm and well behaved, but she can become easily excited (especially around potty and meal time). She is VERY smart and learns commands incredibly quickly. In less than a week, she has improved self-control with the “wait” command. She also knows sit and down! Athena will make a great companion for any adopter!
