DUKE is a fantastic dog who is being cared for by one of our trusted rescue partners. DUKE is NOT a Woof River dog, however an adoption coordinator from Woof River will be handling the applications. DUKE is a happy and friendly boy who delights in even the smallest things his new life has to offer. His joy is contagious and it’s hard not to smile when his entire body is wagging with glee. DUKE is also in possession of the sweetest soul on the planet. He is always happy to see everyone and considers himself a world class snuggler. He soaks up affection like a sponge and has an endless supply of adoration to give in return. When he wants some love, he will lean his whole body against you until he is scooted all the way to the ground, laying down at your feet. It’s absolutely precious. He absolutely adores dogs and is the kind of dog who can fit into any pack, although due to his size, he might do best with larger dogs. This sweet man has no idea of how big he is. He loves to run and play with his doggie friends and thinks toys are the best. He loves playing with his rope, whether it's tug of war or him alone. He will throw his toys up with his nose, or his mouth and jump to catch them or run after them. He also enjoys chewing on his bones. As much as DUKE loves dogs he does not seem to be a big fan of kitties, therefore we think he would do best in a home without cats. He is a good car passenger and minds his manners when in public. While walking on a leash, he tends to pull a little and benefits from walking with an EZ Walk harness. He is truly an all around wonderful dog. DUKE knows to only chew on his things and has never pottied in the house. He is also well behaved in his crate when his foster parents aren’t home. He is an affectionate, confident, loyal dog who will be a great addition to any household. DUKE, like all Woof River dogs, start their journey in Memphis, Tennessee where they remain in loving foster families until they are adopted. Once adopted, some pups stay local in Memphis. Many others travel via one of our transport partners to their new forever homes. We use Pet Express Transport (https://petexpresstupelo.wordpress.com) for our Nashville, Knoxville and New England adoptions. For our Midwest adopters, we have our own private transport. Breed selection is done in conjunction with two local vets and is not to be considered a guarantee but rather a well-educated decision from well qualified staff. Due to the extremely high volume of inquiries we receive, we ask that you request, complete, and submit an application before asking additional questions.
