Meet Mac!Mac is a 1.5 year old black and white 10 pound Chihuahua/terrier mix ready for his forever home. He came from a California high kill shelter and now has a second chance at life here in the Pacific Northwest.Mac was very nervous when he first arrived, but after two weeks in his foster home he has revealed himself to be incredibly sweet, friendly, and playful. In true Chihuahua fashion, Mac loves to be held. He is happy to be carried around in your arms or in a sling, and he gives very sweet face kisses. He is friendly and likes to meet people and do new things if he has his person to hide behind when the world is too big for him. He is truly an easy dog and will be a great companion for an attentive and nurturing owner.After a little time to get to know other dogs, he loves to snuggle and play with them. He came from a situation where he was kept in a small space with many other dogs, and he does get scared if they are loud and big, and he is sensitive to being growled/snapped at. Once given time to learn that they wont hurt them, Mac will cuddle and play.Mac loves to sleep in the bed with you and to be with you most of the time. He does well in a crate when you are not home but will bark and cry if left for long periods. He is friendly and easy to take places, and will do well with someone who will take him around with them. It is likely he would make a good take to the office with you dog and will be a great little adventure buddy.Macs perfect home would have: a woman as his primary caretaker (while he tolerates and can be affectionate with men he is much more bonded to women), someone who is home often or who he can go out and about with, a home that will allow him to sleep in the bed with you, preferably another small dog or a very gentle big dog, low to medium energy home- he is okay with activity and likes to meet new people but can get overwhelmed with excessive noise and activity (think dinner with friends versus chaotic kids birthday party), any kids in the home should be over 10 years old, someone who wants a very affectionate dog who loves to snuggle after a walk and playtime.Mac is neutered, up to date on all his shots, and doing very well with potty training. With good supervision he does not have accidents in the house, but he is still learning because he has not lived in a home before. Untested with cats, would probably chase but respect a confident cat that does not run. He does not chew or destroy things and he tries to let you know if he needs to go outside. He needs a leash to go outside if the yard is not fenced. He does not know any commands but he is very polite and will be a fast learner, he would love to go to positive reward based doggy obedience classes with his new family.
