Are you looking for a fun, athletic, and spectacularly smart and silly young pup? Sandy is your girl! Sandy was slated for euthanasia after being exposed to distemper, but an amazing foster stepped up to save her. Her foster says that Sandy has been one of the easiest dogs to have stayed in her “she shed.” She is smart, toy driven, housebroken, crate trained or safe free rein, curiously confident, silly, and goofy. She is athletic and energetic but also loves to snooze the day away when home alone. Her foster would love to adopt her, but she already has a large managed pack of her own and wants to continue helping dogs who need breaks from the shelter.Sandy is a young dog who has grown up most of her life in the shelter and really deserves a family who will keep her mind active while learning and showing off cool and amazing new tricks. Here’s what other volunteers have said about Sandy:“Sandy is an extremely high drive lady who loves toys. Sandy would love to be able to play with toys all day, fetch, squeaky, balls, stuffies...you name it, Sandy will play with it. She is an incredibly smart and high energy lady. In another life, she was most definitely a border collie. A job would make this girl a happy and a balanced doggy friend. She knows some tricks and is very eager to show them off in return for a treat reward. She is a great walker (pulls slightly), likes to explore and sniff, and is not reactive to other dogs on her walks. She is happiest if you are interacting with her, either practicing her tricks/cues or playing fetch with her. When she is calm, she does enjoy some nice pets and butt scritches. I think Sandy would do well in an active home where she could go on walks/hikes and have some tasks to do. She is very smart and would love to keep learning new tricks and cues to work her brain. Due to her food motivation and smarts, she is fun and easy to train. She may excel at agility, scent-work, flyball or other sports. Would love to see this sweet girl get out of the shelter and start living!”“I had the pleasure of walking Sandy today. She is fairly new and a bit shy.
