We are so happy to offer our beautiful girl named Maddie to the world of Golden Retriever lovers. Yes, this girl was “used” in her early years as a puppy mill breed dog where she was chained to a dog house and bred over and over just to make some extra “easy” dollars. She lived like this for 4 years and in just the past year, Maddie was able to escape the horrors of repeated births and now she is in a loving foster home that is trying to teach her what kindness can look like. She is with a second foster mom who is introducing this girl to lots of new experiences that include new people and new animals to get to know. She has learned how to free her spirit up a little before she again shuts down and shows the insecurities that she has lived with most of her life. We are peeling away the layers of emotional neglect that Maddie has endured while being a puppy machine at the end of a chain while living in a dog house. She might slip in to her familiar world of shyness but now we can bring her out of it fast with just a few words of kindness and a hug. She is touchy about eating around other dogs as her survival mode kicks back in if other dogs approach her while she eats. Natural considering where she came from. She is not protective with people about her food. She would request 1000 hugs a day if you could give them. Can you give her 100 at least? If so, then you should qualify as a candidate to love this girl till her last breath of life. We are looking for a patient, loving and confident dog owner to love her to The moon and back. To wait while she peels each petal of insecurity and replaces it with a strong shell of confidence and assurance. We are spaying her now and she will be ready on November 16th for a new home. A fenced yard, someone around to give her those 100 hugs a day and many more kind words of confidence. This is what we pray becomes a reality for Maddie Gold.
