Boxer Mix Dog for Adoption in Stanwood, Washington, 98223 USNickname: Winnie Posted Breed: Boxer / Mixed (short coat). Hi, my name is Winnie. I'm just over a year old and came to Washington from Oregon with my 10 puppies. I am recently spayed, current on my vaccines, and am being fostered in Arlington, WA. After a DNA test we all found out that my breed mix is 50% Boxer and the rest is a mix of many breeds such as Siberian Husky, American Pit Bull, American Staffordshire, and Boston Terrier. No matter the percentages though, I’m still 100% awesome! Yes, I know I was a young mom, but I had a ton of help from all of my human rescue friends that made it easier for me. Now that my babies have found homes of their own, I'm hoping to find the perfect place to call my own! A place where I can have room to run, so a fenced-in yard is a must. I love, love, love to play because I'm still pretty much a puppy myself. Stuffed toys don't stand a chance with me, but a good tough toy or kneecap bone will keep me busy for hours. While I’m just fine keeping myself amused and busy, I would prefer to have a playmate – canine or human – either would be great! I’m pretty talkative when I play but am learning about inside voices versus outside ones. My foster mom is teaching me a lot, but I’ll still need continued guidance from my forever person or family. I'm a little leery when meeting new dogs and people, especially men, but give me some time and I warm up pretty quickly. I'm still learning some manners as well, but it's so hard because I get very excited and I like to jump up; but I'm getting better, I promise! I'm great in a crate and in the car! I’ve even been trained to use a dog door, so if you have one, just show me where it is, and I’ll catch on quick. If you don’t have one that’s okay too, I will just need you to show me how/where to signal for a potty break and I’ll pick it up super-fast. I’m pretty good on leash while out for walks, but I’m still working on those skills and will master them soon, I’m sure. My foster mom says I have something called "prey drive" but I call it fun! If it runs, then I must chase it; and if I catch it, I must eat it! My foster mom has been teaching me to "leave it", but I don’t fully get it yet, but I will figure it out. One thing I absolutely, positively must have are cuddles! I love cuddles and belly rubs; oh and a few good meals a day too. In my past life I wasn't fed much, and I gave all I had to my babies, but my foster mom helped me gain weight and now I feel so much better. Needless to say, I love food so much I might try to sneak a little if any is left unattended, but can you blame me?!? I guess my foster family is right when they say I'm a work in progress, but then again, who isn’t?!? However, one thing they say the most to me, and to others, is that I'm the sweetest, and I love hearing that. I’m hopeful that my new forever family will feel the same way and help me continue to make progress on all of the things I’ve learned so far.
