Sandman has returned to the shelter in hopes of finding a forever home after spending a year in a foster home. Yep- a whole year! You see, Sandman was hit by a car and his spine was badly injured. This lovely boy has spent the last year recuperating, and while the trauma he’s been through has some lasting effects, Sandman is a happy, loving, and sweet boy who will make his future family oh so lucky!When he returned to the shelter, Sandman still had some pain and discomfort from his accident, so our amazing clinic vets determined that the best course of action was amputation of his front leg. Now, Sandman is the bounciest, happiest, most carefree tripod pup you’ll ever meet! He simply doesn’t care one bit about that pesky leg, and having three good legs is good ‘nuff for him! Sandman did well with another dog in his foster home and was known for his mountain goat tendencies- in the backyard he enjoyed climbing up on tables and other furniture to check things out from higher ground. Parkour! Or should we say… barkour? He’ll definitely need a securely fenced yard in his future home! Sandman was housebroken in his foster home, enjoyed chew toys and Kong balls, and was described by his foster family as friendly, outgoing, and social. Here’s what his volunteer friends have had to say:“Sandman is a sweet boy. I took him to the play yard and he was wagging his tail and wanting affection. I massaged his head, chest, and his shoulder a bit which he enjoyed. He`s just a lover.”“Sandman is a wonderfully affectionate and joyful puppy. I say puppy because his demeanor is exactly that of a wiggly, bouncy little puppy despite his bum shoulder! He loves to explore and stick his head into all sorts of nooks and crannies. He is extremely people-oriented. He frequently checks back during his time in the play yard and loves to get pets on his head, shoulders, and back. Sandman also really loves to give kisses! Yesterday, a volunteer and I were in the yard with him, and I saw him leave his exploration of the yard to walk up behind her and give her a little sneak attack of kisses! It was so cute.”“I took Sandman out and he was running around in the play yard, after which we went for a nice long sniffari walk. A very nice, alert pup, likes treats and will sit for them.”Sandman would like to meet any resident dogs before heading home to make sure it’s a good fit. Please ask to meet Sandman today!!
