Buttercup is a loving 5 yo, ~50-pound female Retriever mix. BarkVille rescued her one hour from her "deadline" at an overcrowded rural shelter after her family left her. She's an extremely loving, fun, gentle girl who is eager to please. She's mild-mannered, sweet-natured, intelligent, and timid. She is cautious in new places and with new people, and needs a furever family that will help her learn to trust again. Buttercup is fully house-trained, sleeps through the night, and learns routines quickly. She's a very smart girl that enjoys learning new things! She knows basic commands and waits for her signal to eat. She's working on crate training with her foster parents. She enjoys going for walks and is currently refining her leash manners. She also loves car rides. This sweet girl gets along well with dogs similar in nature (large or rowdy dogs can intimidate her). Cats are unknown. Due to her timidness, Buttercup needs to live in a home without kids. Her ideal home is quieter, calm, and predictable, without a lot of people coming and going. She sometimes needs slow intros with new people coming in. She's the perfect mix of laid-back and playful. She loves her food and toys, and can easily entertain herself. She is looking for companionship and will do whatever you're in the mood for. She's content in her doggie bed, or in bed with you. She is a first-rate cuddler! She knows not to get on furniture unless invited though. She's also the perfect, quiet work-from-home or retirement buddy. "Butters" is a goofy bundle of fun! Playing fetch and tug-of-war are her favorite. Are you a walker or runner? Buttercup would love to join! She'd make an excellent hiking partner. She'd like a forever home that has a fenced yard, but it's not a necessity if her family will keep her physically active. Buttercup would love someone who will provide her guidance while she builds her confidence and becomes more secure. She is a very lovable and deserving girl ready for her furever home! She is fully vaccinated, spayed, and microchipped. Applicants in surrounding states could potentially adopt a BarkVille dog if their application is approved, they live within 2-3 hours of the Greater Atlanta area, and they are able to pick up their dog from the foster home.February 14, 2024, 11:56 amAdoption processThe dogs that we have available for adoption have come from shelters where they were found stray or were given up by their owners. These dogs have been let down by humans in the past and may be suffering from physical ailments or abuse. So, by the time these dogs come into our rescue group they have been thru a lot and need a home that can provide them with structure, guidance, love, patience and time to adjust to their new surroundings. Please understand that as dogs transition from shelter to foster home to forever home there can be set backs along the way and they will need your help to adjust. All dogs that are adopted from BarkVille are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and provided with all necessary veterinary care. However, owning a pet can be expensive and you must be prepared to provide quality food, monthly heartworm medication, monthly flea and tick medication, yearly shots and routine checkups. In addition, you must prepare for accidents and illnesses that may require expensive treatment or surgeries. Many times our dogs have ended up in shelters because their previous owners were not prepared for these expenses and we want to ensure this never happens to them again. We strive to know and understand each of our dogs so that we can work to find the best match for each dog and adopter. Our adoption process includes an adoption application, adoption interview, meet and greet, veterinary reference check, personal reference check and home visit prior to making the adoption final. We reserve the right to deny any application that we feel is not a good fit for any of our dogs for any reason. If you are ready to make a commitment to one of our dogs please complete the adoption application and submit for review. The adoption fees vary based on the age of the animal: Age 7 and up is $300, Between age 7 to 1 year is $350. Puppies under the age of 1 year is $400.
