Romeo, Labrador Retriever For Adoption In Carlsbad, California

Location:
Carlsbad, CA
Description:

Romeo was found as a stray, he was timid and didn't trust anyone at first. He was taken to the vet and since then his rehabilitation started.. Now he is a friendly and sweet boy; he is active but not hyperactive, loves to socialize and play with other dogs. He is currently 38 pounds and is approximately 3 yrs old.. Romeo is more confident on himself now and trust humans faster; he likes male and female humans, including kids. He sleeps in a crate with the door open. He is obedient, and alerts his family when he hears strange noises outside the house. He rides very well in the car and is used to being in a crate while commuting. If put on a potty schedule, he waits for his foster to open the door to the outdoor yard to go potty. He will mark territory initially when in a new home, but he get into this potty routine without an issue. He is learning how to walk on leash. He is not food aggressive but eats very fast. Loves toys. He deserves a loving family that will have time for playtime and walks. Romeo deserves an awesome family.Adoption processStep 1Fill application at our website Step 2Submit your adoption application to us. If we have an upcoming adoption event. We will set a time for you to come meet the dog that day, usually on Saturdays. Please make sure you take any family members and other dogs to see how the initial introduction goes. If we DON’T have an upcoming adoption event. And you have other dogs:We will schedule to meet you, any family members, and other dogs near your home first; this makes the entry into the new home easier for the dog and for your family. And you don’t have any other dogs: We will schedule to meet you and any family members at your home. Step 4Meet your prospective new pet. Spend time with them and see how it goes. Step 5If your "Meet & Greet" goes well and you wish to adopt; you will complete an adoption contract at the appointment. We ask for a suggested adoption donation to help us cover spay/neutering, shots, medical treatment, food, supplies and temporary care. These suggested donation amounts only partially cover the cost of expenses involved. Your donation is tax deductible. It’s that easy! Step 6Take your new best friend home! Congratulations – you have saved a special life. What if the adoption doesn't work out?You can return any of our dogs as we don't want to see them turned into a shelter. The application process helps prevent such an issue, so it's very important that you are honest when answering the questions. Not all dogs are compatible in all situations, so it is imperative that you are forthright in the application process to find the right match. However, be sure you are ready to make a full commitment to adopting a dog, whether a puppy or an adult. It can take up to a few weeks for a dog to really adjust to his/her new environment. A lot really depends on the dog's past so the prospect of adopting should be well-thought-out & the commitment should be taken seriously.Shelter locationOur pets are all cared for in foster homes. While in foster care, their foster family is making sure they receive lots of tender loving care and have any veterinary needs taken care of. This also gives the foster family an opportunity to learn about the dog's personality, so we can better assist you in selecting a dog that will be the best fit for you and your family.
