Precious is a beautiful 12-year old female Yellow Labrador Retriever mix who was surrendered by her family on May 20, 2023 along with her best friend Duke (an adult male Catahoula Leopard Dog mix) because they were moving and couldn't take Duke and Precious to the new residence. Precious has a cream/tan medium-haired coat, a long fluffy tail, and a lovely face with dark brown eyes, an award-winning smile, and large tan floppy ears. This sweet girl has an affectionate 'Type A' outgoing personality and dearly loves her companion Duke .. And she also adores attention from her people friends. We've learned that Precious is ok with other animals and that she is good with children. Precious weighs 74.6 lbs and has already been spayed. Precious walks well on a leash. Precious and Duke are very bonded with each other, and they are sharing a spacious room in a more quiet area in our shelter. Thanks to Volunteer John Tynan and HSOV Humane Officer Fredley Tynan for teaming up to take Duke and Precious out for their photo sessions as a pair. It was touching to see Duke keep looking back (since he and John were in the lead) to make sure that Precious and Fredley were in close proximity. Duke appears to depend upon Precious as his 'security blanket'. Precious and Duke both defy the chronological/biological age on their kennel cards and seem much younger dogs when you meet them in person. They are being listed as a bonded pair since we feel that it is in their best interest to find another loving home together.
