Adopt Duke (Neutered) a Merle Catahoula Leopard Dog / Mixed dog in Marietta

Duke is a handsome 7-year old male Catahoula Leopard Dog mix who was surrendered by his family on May 20, 2023 along with his best friend Precious (a senior female Yellow Labrador Retriever) because they were moving and couldn't take Duke and Precious to the new residence. Duke has a beautiful blue/gray coat in a merle pattern with white markings on his chest/paws, a long tail, and a handsome symmetrically-marked face with hopeful trusting eyes, a blue/gray nose on his slender muzzle, and large floppy ears. Duke's left eye is blue/brown (commonly known as a 'cracked glass eye' in the Catahoula breed) which gives him a unique appearance. This sweet boy has a friendly, outgoing personality and dearly loves his friend Precious .. And he also loves attention from his people friends. We've learned that Duke is ok with other animals and that he is good with children. Duke weighs 58 lbs and has already been neutered. He walks fairly well on a leash. Duke and Precious are very bonded with each other, and they are sharing a spacious room in a more quiet area in our shelter. Thanks to Volunteer John Tynan and HSOV Humane Officer Fredley Tynan for teaming up to take Duke and Precious out for their photo sessions as a pair. It was touching to see Duke keep looking back (since he and John were in the lead) to make sure that Precious and Fredley were in close proximity. Duke appears to depend upon Precious as his 'security blanket'. Duke and Precious defy the chronological/biological age on their kennel cards and seem much younger dogs. They are being listed as a bonded pair since we feel that it is in their best interest to find another loving home together.
