A SWEETIE LOOKING FOR AN ANGEL: Approx. 13 years old / Approx. 8 lbs. Hi there, I’m Coconut! I came from a breeding situation that got very out of hand, so the authorities got involved and thankfully Mostly Mutts was able to take me into their program so I can find a wonderful home! I had to be completely shaved down as I was terribly matted, with infected skin, sebaceous cysts, jaw deterioration and terribly infected ears. After a lifetime of being a breeding dog, and not properly cared for, I am looking for a family that will cherish and take great care of me in my golden years! I was adopted for a few months, but it wasn’t a good fit, so I find myself looking for a new home. • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I got along fine with the older sweet dogs in my former foster home and the family that adopted me for a few months reported that I liked some dogs, so if you have a nice gentle doggy at home, let’s meet and see if we can be pals. / I got along fine with the cat in my previous adoptive home and I’m doing well with the kitties in my foster home with an occasional run when they run, but my foster easily calls me back and I come to her. / I’ve met neighborhood kids, and did well with them, so if you have calm, older kids, let’s meet. I don’t think younger kids would be a good match for me due to my age, small size, and condition. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: I am a mellow little fellow who just wants a quiet home where I can enjoy retirement. Basically, I’m a laid-back, napping kind of guy! Happy and sociable, I am sure to bring love and smiles to my new family as I follow them around and enjoy attention from them. / My energy level is 2-3. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I walk very well on my leash and my foster is working on lots of commands with me now, so hopefully I’ll have some mastered soon, because you CAN teach an old dog new tricks! / I’m comfortable in my crate and sleep in it very well through the night. I do like to be able to see my people when I’m in it and I don’t like being in it when there’s activity in the house that I don’t want to miss being a part of. / My potty habits have been very good in my foster home. I get 3 short walks a day and have been letting my foster know when I need to go outside. So, keep me on a good schedule and watch for my cues. • LIKES/DISLIKES: I love everyone that I’ve met thus far and have a nice spirit with people. My foster also reports that I like attention, petting, playing with kitty toys for a short time, treats, doggie sweaters when I’m cold, dog and cat beds, and being carried around especially in a baby carrier or bag that is around my person’s body. I’m also a big fan of napping a lot. My former family reported that I liked men a good bit too. / I don’t like being cold or being in my crate when there is activity going on in the home and I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, good care and attention. • MEDICAL: I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered. I have lower jaw deterioration, so I don’t have use of my lower jaw. I also don’t have any teeth, so my tongue hangs out. I have a grade 4 heart murmur that does not require medication currently. My skin continues to heal, but I still have a sebaceous syst on the back of my neck that will need your care in keeping it moisturized and expressed. My ears are much improved, but I’ll need my family to monitor them as well. I take an over-the-counter Cosequin tablet that is good for all older dogs joints, and fish oil for my skin.
