Animal Profile: Artemis is an estimated 3-year-old, 65 lb female Lab/Shepherd mix who loves snuggles and belly rubs. She is friendly with all people, including kids. Her previous owner described her as gentle, loving, playful, and attentive with kids of all ages. Artemis is a smart girl who learns quickly and knows basic commands. She is both house trained and crate trained. Artemis would do best in a home with a securely fenced yard where she can run and play. Foster Update: Artemis is a very good and chill dog with an excellent foundation of training. She walks well on leash with a training collar and heels on command. She's made tremendous progress when encountering unfamiliar dogs on walks. She doesn’t react from a distance at all and can now pass by calmly as long as they stay outside her “bubble” of about 2 feet. She's conditioned to a muzzle and accepts it easily; it seems to make her more comfortable encountering new dogs. After slow introductions, she's become best buds with a large male Lab and a medium female Aussie in her foster home. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization. Animal History: Artemis came to the Quincy Animal Shelter as a stray. She was adopted by a family with kids with special needs in Fall 2022 and surrendered to DGS in July 2023 because they were unable to give her the attention she deserves.
