What an incredible journey Pixie has had! Brought all the way from a high-kill shelter in Texas to Colorado, she narrowly escaped euthanasia, making her rescue story truly remarkable. If you are interested in hearing the details, her foster would love to tell you about it! Pixie, a petite 2-year-old Pittie mix, is a delightful presence with her lovable face and the sweetest big brown eyes. At a gentle weight of 35 pounds, she embodies charm and grace in a compact package. Pixie is truly a joyous, goofy, and affectionate soul, radiating happiness and love with every wag of her tail. The fact that she grins when petted or talked to adds a special touch to her endearing nature. It speaks volumes about Pixie's resilience and her ability to find joy in human connection despite her challenging past. Right now, Pixie needs to be in a solo dog household due to being reactive with other dogs. This reaction happens both on and off the leash and is most likely due to fear and insecurity. We think she had very limited interaction, possibly as a backyard dog with minimal exposure to people and other dogs. Pixie's foster family has recognized her need for an invested owner, and with the guidance of a trainer, she has the potential to develop excellent social skills and learn the boundaries necessary for positive interactions with other dogs. Additionally, continuing her basic obedience training will contribute to her overall growth and well-being. A family that can provide her with the love, patience, and dedication she deserves will undoubtedly be fortunate to have such an amazing addition to their home. Pixie's love for kids adds another layer to her endearing personality. She is an ideal companion for families with older children (10+). Her quick grasp of house-training, with only two accidents, and her exceptional behavior in the crate highlight her eagerness to learn and please. She knows how to sit, down, watch me, and is perfecting the art of walking on a loose leash. She's currently learning to shake, leave it, and wait before going through doors. She's a smart cookie and loves to learn! A true food enthusiast, Pixie's heart is easily won over with treats. Pixie would love a fenced backyard where she can romp and play. She has a high energy level and a goofy, playful nature. She hasn't learned to fetch yet, but we're sure that would be one of her favorite activities. During quieter moments and when a more relaxed atmosphere is desired, Pixie transforms into the perfect couch buddy. Pixie's favorite pastimes include giving kisses, playing with her stuffies, relishing tummy rubs, observing her humans, and cuddling with anyone willing. As Pixie eagerly awaits her forever family, she brings with her a heart full of gratitude for the second chance she's been given.
