Meet Red! Red was impounded at Palmdale Shelter and held as evidence from a cruelty case for 9 months! Along with him several dogs of various sizes, cats, and even a chinchilla were taken from the same residence. When Red finally became available for adoption, and no one came for him, shelter staff sent out pleas to rescues on their behalf. Fortunately, we were able to make room for Red, and on July 5th, he became a Frosted Face! Red is 8 years old and weighs 65 lbs. He is very sweet and friendly and loves affection and attention. Red went on a two-week Frosted Fling, and after not living in a home in a very long time, he really enjoyed it. And, he earned a rave review from his Fling Mom! She reports: “Red just wants to be loved on! He comes up for pets often, gives kisses and though he seems fearful at first - will literally let you massage him all over. He ate in the kitchen with no issues, no guarding of the food, and would back away if I was adding food to the bowl. He enjoyed his food and treats and took them from me like a distinguished gentleman. He is potty trained and was able to wait until the mornings to go potty with no accidents. He is treat and praise motivated. Red is really reserved and mellow. He didn’t seem to understand fetch but enjoyed chewing on toys. I bought him some toys that he started playing with (ripped the squeaker out) on his last couple days with me. I really got to see his personality come out when another Frosted Face came over to play. He was so happy, playful, silly and way more high energy than ever. Red met cats, small dogs, and big dogs, and would seem to do best with another dog around. He also seems to really like his female human friends! Red was perfectly content going on car rides with me. He is super easy on the leash and doesn’t react to most dogs. He was perfectly behaved in the pet store and Home Depot, and even made lunch at Lazy Dog restaurant super easy by not reacting to all the dogs around. He decided a dog bed wasn’t his jam, and opted for a big thick blanket to sleep on every night on the floor next to my bed. He definitely likes to chew so keep some strong bones around for him and a squeaky toy or two. Red is such a sweetie pie, I miss him already!” Red is back on-site and ready for his forever home!
