Acai is a gentle senior citizen who knows that the last place an old lady belongs is in the shelter! Acai arrived at the shelter with very irritated eyes and has been receiving treatment while at PACC. She’s come a long way and has truly blossomed. She spends a few days a week at the offsite location of PACC’s rescue partner, Tucson Rescue Now. Here’s what they said about her:“Acai is a sweet girl who finds herself at the shelter after her owner passed. She’d really love to find her forever home where she can begin to heal her heart and make wonderful new memories with her new person or family. She’s a bit nervous when she first meets someone new, but if you take your time and let her warm up at her pace, she will reward you with the sweetest tail wags and gentle licks. She seems to like plush squeaky toys and is very careful with them. She walks nicely on leash and isn’t a puller. She needs a new best friend to help her through her loss. Her eye issues are being treated through PACC`s clinic and she is feeling better each day!”And here’s what another of her volunteer friends said:“I`ve been spending time with Acai and she is a big sweetheart. She`s shy and unsure in the beginning but once she gets to know someone and trust them, her tender-hearted, gentle, loving, happy personality comes out. She now eagerly welcomes me when I enter her kennel and quickly comes over for attention. She enjoys affection and yesterday she was actually bouncy and smiling. I always offer her an assortment of treats but she`s generally only interested in string cheese, which she loves. She is easy to leash up and walks slowly. This gal needs someone who will go slow and easy with her and build trust and confidence. She deserves a caring and stable home to help her heal and show her kindness and love.”Acai has shared her kennel with a variety of roommates, from younger, rowdier dogs to calmer seniors, and has always done well. When meeting other dogs in playgroup she was tolerant, social, and even a bit playful. Please ask about this very deserving senior today!
