Forever Home Requirements:*Good with dogs*Good with cats*Good with children*Physical fence required 3/4/24-Say Hello to Sadie 24-005! Sadie is a 20 pound, 8 month old energetic Goldendoodle, Lab and King Charles Spaniel mix who is looking for her forever home. She was lovingly surrendered to GRRoIowa due to no fault of her own. One of the children in the home was allergic. She lived in the home with a 4 year old and an almost 1 year old and did great with them. This is what her foster says about Sadie: She is cute as a button and small as you can see from her picture. She walks great on a leash. When she goes out or comes back in she has to sit to get the leash on & off which she does willingly. Sadie knows sit, down and spin. She is completely house trained. Sleeps in her kennel at night. Of course it doesn’t hurt to give her a treat when she’s in! She settles down right away and not a peep out of her all night. (She made a few noises the first night but she was somewhere new.) Sadie will not require a fence, but her adopter will need a plan in order to keep her safe. She loves dogs. She is living with a very small dog and a cat (very curious about the cat). I believe that if the cat would run she would chase, not to be mean but to play. You do have to watch her playing with a smaller dog ONLY because she wants to really play hard and maybe a little too rough playing. She would be excellent with a dog her size or bigger. She would also do great at doggie day care, especially if she gets to play with another dog. She would be great with playdates as well. She wants to play and play, oh and did I say she wants to play? She’s still a puppy and that’s what puppies do! If you have another dog she will try to eat their food. She just tries to nudge her way into their bowl of food, so if you have a dog who doesn’t like to share, you would have to feed them away from one another, possibly even in separate rooms as Sadie will keep trying to go over and eat theirs. (We are working on that.) If they don’t eat all of their food she will finish it for them (gladly) if you let her. She gets very, very excited when you play with her. She would be great at agility or something for her to focus that energy to. She listens really well. She will get wound up if you let her, (there again the puppy) but if you tell her to settle down she will. She will run and bounce off of your couches and such (if you let her) if you engage her in play, as she needs to burn off that energy! She’s a puppy and needs someone who knows and understands she has all this energy and can help her burn it off. She is a very excitable little girl. However, she lays around if you are busy doing something. When I am busy in the house on the computer or in my sewing room, Sadie will lay on the floor where she can see me. She loves to lay by you in the evenings watching tv or sometimes she just lays in her bed. She will counter surf, as she is so curious, but if you tell her off she does mind, but you will have to keep reminding. If you want a Velcro dog, she is that. If you get up, she gets up and follows you everywhere. She is a very curious and smart dog. If you drop something on the floor she is right there to grab it so you would have to be mindful of that. I kennel her if I leave and she does great. Sadie is not a barker. She will get super excited when someone is coming to the door but does not bark. She will try to jump on people if they come to the door another thing we are working on. She travels well in the car in her kennel. She will really be a good dog for someone who is willing to take the time to teach her to be a great dog. She will also benefit from going to classes for training. She is a quick learner! Sadie loves dogs, kids and just everyone she meets. She is a very happy, outgoing little girl. Just remember, she is still an active, curious puppy. If you are interested, complete an adoption application today! If you have any questions or would like to adopt Sadie, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
