Annie is a beautiful 1-1/2 year old female Labrador Retriever/Terrier mix who was brought to the HSOV on February 21, 2024 along with her puppy (Penelope) by a Good Samaritan who rescued them a week or so earlier... with a very sad story. Annie and Penelope had been abandoned on Caywood Road near Marietta Ohio on February 11, 2024 by their original owner and were left them fend for themselves. We can only imagine how terrified they must have been since they'd previously been indoors in the only home they'd ever known. Thankfully for the girls, several compassionate individuals started leaving food for Annie and Penelope. They were rescued within a couple of days and spent the next week in the home of one of the Good Samaritans who gave them baths and kept them for about a week in hopes that she could find a home for them before bringing them to the safety of our shelter on February 21st. The Good Samaritan who fostered Annie and Penelope reported that they were good with children and other dogs while they were in her family's home, and that they were housetrained. Annie has a snow white coat with a black patch on her left side, a long tail, and an adorable face with copper-colored eyes, a black button nose on her slender muzzle, and short black semi-erect ears. Annie has a distinctive black diamond mark on top of her head. Annie has a friendly, outgoing personality. She is the more dominant of the pair and is the 'mother in charge'. Thanks to HSOV Volunteer Jennie Sherrard for helping Annie with her glamour photos on February 25, 2024. Since Annie & Penelope were sharing a small kennel (and neither of them wanted to venture out alone), HSOV Kennel Tech Emily Beaver and HSOV Volunteer Emma Dahlgren took Penelope out for a simultaneous photo session. Annie weighs 39 lbs. She will be spayed before being adopted by her new family (a requirement for HSOV adoptions to be finalized). NOTE: We've learned that Annie gave birth to nine puppies on June 15, 2023 (including Penelope). Another of her puppies (Appallo aka Apollo) was brought to HSOV on February 1, 2024 and is also looking for a loving home.If you have any questions or would like to adopt Annie, please reach out to the adoption group directly.
