Older canine seeking companion with whom I can enjoy my retirement. Hello, my name is Ranger. I am a 10-year-old Pitbull looking for a cozy place to relax and be loved. I am handsome, loving, loyal, and a bit lazy. I'm no pup anymore, but that means I am low maintenance! I'm happy to spend my days lying on my dog bed next to your favorite chair while we watch the television; any show will do, and I do not require control of the remote...I'm just happy to be there! I also enjoy a sunny spot near the window where I can nap. I will utilize this perch to let the neighborhood know that our home is protected by offering up a bark or growl to anyone who gets a little too curious and comes in our yard. I am potty trained, and crate trained. I do not require lots of toys as I have grown out of the chewing phase, but I do like to have a Kong toy around just in case the urge hits me. Being a mature dog, all I need is a yard in which to do my business and someone to open the door for me a few times a day. I'm content to lay out in the sun for a while but am used to being indoors most of the time. Being a short haired dog, my grooming needs are very minimal, and I do not shed much. All I require is an occasional bath. This is not my favorite activity, but I tolerate it well whether it be via the hose outside in the warm weather or your bathtub when it's too cold outside. I am used to being "free fed so even my breakfast, lunch, dinner, routine is handled with ease. Just keep my food and water bowl full and I can manage the rest. Being a gentleman, I do not overindulge and am able to maintain my fit physique with no human intervention necessary. Treats are optional, but very highly recommended! I do not require any regular medication and have no history of serious health issues. I have lived with kids from birth up to the age of 8 years old, so I am comfortable with humans from all walks of life. I have a very laid back and "chill personality and would enjoy sharing a low-key lifestyle with you. I have lived with my litter mate my entire life, but that situation is no longer a healthy one for us, so we have decided to go our separate ways. While we were inseparable and the best of friends when we were younger, we no longer see eye to eye. I have never had any aggressive behavior towards any human or any other animal, but as is the case sometimes for unknown reasons littermates grow apart and cannot sort things out. I have also lived with three other dogs without incident, but because of my history with my brother I must demand that I am the only pet in our home. This is non-negotiable for me. My preference is that I find a house with a backyard and a secure fence. I am not accustomed to needing to be leashed and walked every time I need to handle my outside business and do not believe I would enjoy such a scenario. I have lived with only 1 family my entire life up to this point, and my new family must be committed to me for the remainder of my days as I am not interested in exploring the world at this point in my journey. Even though I am very healthy, especially for my age, I will still require that you commit to taking me for regular vet check ups and be financially able to provide any necessary medical care should the need arise.
