Ruby was pulled out of a rural NC shelter in mid February. She had been living there for a month in a small crate. Prior to that, she had lived in a home with three other dogs. She was an abandoned dog, as she was found living in very poor and unsanitary conditions and had been locked in a crate with another dog. There is little knowlege of her life prior to the shelter, but from what we know is that she spent 2 of her first 4-5 months living in a crate exclusively. Due to this, she missed her puppy socialization window and needs some guidence learning to trust new peope. When meeting new people, she sometimes needs to take it slow and moves cautiously, only to give herself some space and make sure it's a safe place. She sometimes barks, but is friendly and once she knows you, shes a fast friend. She has improved a lot with this and has gained confidence from her large housemate, a 100 pound golden retriever that has helped show her staangers aren't so bad! We think Ruby would do best in a home with a larger dog or being a single dog. Ruby LOVES all kids, she wants to play, play, play and give lots of kisses. She is a very treat motivated puppy and would thrive with some training as well as someone to work with her on socialization in different settings. Ruby would do best in a home with no small pets. She likes to play and chase our cat, but has not tried to hurt him. Perhaps with some time and training she would be okay with this as well. Ruby loves to go for walks and jump on the trampoline with the kiddos. She would love a fenced in yard to play in and get her zoomies out. She gets those from time to time (she is still a pup) but most of the time you will find her wanting to cuddle up on the couch. She is mostly potty trained, but will need someone to help her follow a schedule and give her positive reinforcement. She has been spayed and is fully vaccinated. She is growing quickly and is now 25 pounds and has finally lost her last puppy tooth. We have a Dog DNA test on file and she has been described to be 100% good dog and to be predicted to be a low shedder with adult weight range from 33-50 pounds, our vet thinks low to mid 30's! Ruby is a sweetheart and deservces a great life. She loves kiddos and wants a chance to thrive in a forever home!Adoption process$25 application fee
