Amber von Anklam is a beautiful, 2-3 year-old Shepherd mix. If dogs could talk, we know exactly what Amber would say. “Pretty pretty please give me a treat and pets all day!” Well, maybe every other dog would say that too, but Amber’s extra special. While she might start a bit shy, in no time she's your sweet and loving best friend, especially if treats are involved! On the smaller side (just under 50lbs), she loves to please, knows “sit” and is a great mingler with people and other dogs. She does well in most scenarios and meets everyone nicely. Amber is well-behaved on the leash and likes to take her time to ease into her walks, exploring new areas and, of course, getting a treat here and there along the way. Amber can’t wait to find her forever family and settle in for a long life of - yes, you guessed it - treats and pets. (No cats please.) Mixes are "softer" and somewhat more malleable. Exceptions can be made, however, for first-time adopters who show the confidence and leadership tendencies that purebreds will respect and respond to. Counselors have to use good judgment in assessing the attributes of the adopter, as well as of the dog. If you have doubts, get a second opinion from Robin or another experienced counselor.
