Adopt Kobie's Story a Black - with Gray or Silver Cocker Spaniel / Mixed dog in

Location:
Tulsa, OK
Description:

To My Former Owner I still think about you sometimes. You brought me home when I was just a puppy and it didn't take us long to become best friends. You were going through a rough patch when you brought me home and I was exactly what you needed. I knew when you were sad, and was always there to lend a paw and comfort you. There was a time that I thought nothing would ever separate us. We were just that close. Sadly, life works in mysterious ways and it ended up taking us separate ways. The house you had dreamed of building for us was going to take much longer than we planned and being in that small apartment together just wasn't good for us. You could tell I missed having a yard to romp around and play in. I had always been a dog who isn't afraid to speak my mind, and our being in such a small space together was really starting to put a strain on our relationship. You decided to make the hard decision to surrender me. When I first met my foster mama, I was super happy and friendly. I was excited to make a new friend but then I saw you crying and tried comforting you. You gave me a kiss goodbye and ended up leaving. I knew we were going to say goodbye, but it wasn't until that exact moment when I watched you leave that I realized just how much it hurt. Some things are just not meant to be though, so I did my best to be strong for you and get to know my foster mom and my new life. Fast forward a few weeks later, and I am living the life! I get to sleep in bed with my foster mom, and am even being fostered in a home with other Cocker Spaniels! I have a big yard to run around and play in, but also cannot wait until I get to come back inside. I am getting lots of yummy treats and can often be found doing happy wiggle boy dance on the bed. You will always be in my heart, but I have to say that I am quite excited to see what the future holds for me. Word on the street has it that someone may fall in love with me and adopt me soon after reading my story! I am pretty excited about the possibility. Anyways, I just wanted to let you know that I am doing well and hope that you are as well. ------------------------------------------- To My Future Family: My name is Kobie and I am a 4.5-year-old male Cocker Spaniel. I am not a dog for everyone. I am not a big fan of discipline and am not afraid to tell you how I feel about it. I have been known to snap if I feel like I am being pushed too far. I am the kind of dog that values his freedom. I am not someone you can dress up, carry around, and "force" into situations. I like simply being. If you just let me do my thing and fall into a good routine, then we have absolutely no issues. I will be the biggest cuddle bug around. I will always be by your side. I will follow you everywhere, and that includes the bathroom. I will always be up for an adventure and a road trip. You just have to let me be a dog. As I am sure you have already put together, I am not a good candidate for a home that has kids. While I love people, I don't like being grabbed, poked, and jostled. I like calm and gentle pets. You know the kind where I climb on your chest and pass out and you gently pet me and give me those ear rubs that I love so much! I do great with other dogs. I have not engaged in any play with them, but do seem to enjoy their company. I am also being fostered around cats and while I tried giving chase at first...all but ignore them now. I am a pretty calm guy and spend most of my day napping. I have shown some interest in chewing on hooves, but otherwise haven't really played with any toys. I do have my silly moments where I roll all around the bed like a goober, become the happiest dog ever when you come home, and will pretty much do anything you ask for a treat. Most of the time, I can be found curled up at my foster mom's side while she works or is reading a book. I can stay like that for hours. I do have good house manners and am potty trained. My former owner kenneled me, but my foster mom lets me have free roam of the house and I do wonder. I am known to try and counter surf...so you will want to make sure all the food is cleared from the counter. I have also been known to go digging through the trash so that will need to be in a spot that I cannot get to. I think that about sums up everything that you should know about me. If you are interested in learning be sure to submit an application for me and then you will also get to review the evaluation form my foster mom filled out for me! I bet you can find some other details in there about me! ---------------------------------------------Application to adopt Kobiehttps://www.emailmeform.com/builder/form/hx000BP7nbQvjHX49Uur80FV3 Location: Tulsa, OK -Adopters must be able to pick up their new dog, with no exceptions. Adoption Fee: $250 Includes: DHLPP, Rabies, Bordetella, Fecal, Deworming, Heartworm Test, Micro-Chip, Neuter, and he will be current heartworm and flea/tick prevention. FROM HIS FOSTER MOM 🐾 ↓ Kobie is not a dog for everyone, but for the right family he is the most amazing boy. He and I started off to a rocky start. The first day I brought him home, he tried chasing the cats and I told him "No" and he turned around and started telling me exactly how he felt about it. His former owner wasn't kidding...this dude isn't a fan of the word no. He also is not a fan of being picked up and will tense up and sometimes try snapping if he feels like there is tension in the air. As time has gone on, I have realized that Kobie is very empathetic. He can feel what you are feeling which plays into how he reacts. Now that he knows the routine, and how things work we have not had an incident in several weeks. He also took correction well the few times he needed it, so I do believe a big thing for Kobie is trust. He needs to know you and feel safe with you. Kobie isn't a dog who would enjoy being coddled or always handled. Don't get me wrong this dog LOVES to cuddle and be with his people. But being picked up, prodded, or constantly messed with isn't his thing. Think of Kobie as a cat. He wants things on his terms. He wants to be the one to jump on the bed and curl up close to you. He wants to be the one to let himself outside versus you "making him". He wants to be the one who climbs in your lap for cuddles versus you picking him up. He just wants to be the independent dog that he is. I live a pretty simple life and routine-oriented life and Kobie has really settled in wonderfully. I don't believe he would be good with constant change. I think he really thrives on stability. Kobie has done great whenever I have had visitors over, but it is rare. Once again, I think if his new family constantly had traffic in and out of the home it would be too much for him. Kobie does have good house manners, and has done really well with free roam. Even when I am away at work. Kobie is not a dog who does well being in boarding though. Once again, I think it is because he has to keep being handled and told what to do, so his new family needs to plan accordingly should they need to go out of town. He would do best with an in-home sitter or staying with friends/family. Kobie is also the kind of dog that will probably need to be sedated for grooming and nail trims. So, his new family will need to be able to afford the additional sedation charges on top of his vet and grooming care. Kobie has his quirks, but for the right family...they really pale in comparison to how amazing and wonderful this boy. He is my constant sidekick, cracks me up when he rolls around like a goober on the bed, and is an amazing cuddler. If you are looking for a one-of-a-kind dog that has personality for days...you definitely won't ever find another like Kobie!
