Adopt Jonah a Black - with Brown, Red, Golden, Orange or Chestnut Cocker Spaniel

Location:
Plymouth, MN
Description:

Hello future family! My name is Jonah, but foster mom calls me Jonah Bear. I have finally made it to adulthood (approx. 2.5 years old) and love my foster life. People always tell me I look like a Rottweiler, but there is no Rott in me…my sisters DNA results came back as Cocker Spaniel, American Pitbull, Chinese Shar-pei, Australian Cattle dog and more! Foster mom says I am the muttiest-mutt out there! But what you will notice first about me is my big puppy dog eyes and wiggley butt!I really love dogs, especially confident male dogs. I would love to have an older brother to show me around and help me learn the rules of the house. I currently live with two resident dogs (4-yo male, 8-yo female) who are both confident leaders in the house. I absolutely love Henri, the male dog, and we have become the best of friends, playing and cuddling all day! There are always foster puppies in the house also (from 8 weeks – 4 months), and they are super fun! I love being the “older brother” to the young ones and helping teach them things. When I came to rescue, I was anxious, fearful and guarded everything. Sometimes I would guard my food for hours before I actually ate. But, after lots of trust building and training, I now eat in the kitchen with the resident dogs, share toys freely (even bringing them to other dogs), and can be trained with treats with others. Foster mom says she is so proud of my progress, but I completely trust her because she has never taken anything away from me! I sometimes get my high value treats in my kennel, but I don’t bark or growl, and she thinks I can have them out of the kennel soon! Foster mom says the family I go to should be patient with me and continue my progress to being the bestest boy ever. We have done a lot of training, it helps that foster mom is a professional dog trainer. I am really good at sit, down, leave-its, drop it, and kennel. We are still working on better stays and place, but I am making excellent progress. Mostly, I know when I hear a quick “uh uh” that I need to sit and be a good boy. I am kennel trained, have never had a potty accident inside, and have never gotten into something that I shouldn’t!I absolutely love three things…playing with my “brother” Henri, playing fetch, and cuddling on the couch. Henri has taught me to play tug, and we love to chase each other around the yard. We play fetch everywhere…must be the cocker spaniel in me! I love the squeaky balls, and will bring it back to foster mom to throw again. Cuddling and tummy rubs are the best, especially after a long day…I really want to sleep in the human bed, but am good at sleeping through the night on the dog bed on the floor. I have also slept well in my kennel, but have earned non-kennel sleeping privileges. I have met children and really like them. The only thing I don’t like is when they continuously take things from me. So super small kids are harder for me. I have also lived with a cat and the only thing I learned was to climb and sleep on the arms of the couch! I have met lots of people at this foster home, and in the beginning I was a little scared, but now I realize that people are awesome! I greet everyone now with a wiggly butt and big dopey smile!I am so excited to join your pack and will give you all my love and attention! As you can see from some of my pictures, I have become a very good young (doggy)man. Fill out an app to meet me…you won’t be disappointed!
