Alfie is an adorable six-year-old mix who weighs about 40 lbs. We aren't really sure what he's mixed with but he's awfully cute! He has a wire coat but does shed. He's a very sweet, affectionate, and curious pup. He is good on a leash and loves going for walks and car rides. He adores his stuffed toys. Alfie loves other dogs but lacks some social skills so would do best as either an only dog or with a very patient doggy friend. Alfie has been diagnosed with diabetes insipidus. This causes him to drink a lot and, thus, pee a lot. He was started on a new medication on 4/12 that will help reduce his water intake. We are already seeing good results! The medication is inexpensive but he will need to be on it for the rest of his life. He is up to date on vaccinations and will be neutered before he is adopted. Every dog we place is vaccinated, wormed, treated for ticks/fleas, and spayed/neutered prior to adoption. We send each dog home with a collar and leash. With very few exceptions, dogs are happiest and the most well-behaved when they receive daily exercise and ongoing training, so we always prefer to place our dogs with families who are willing to make a commitment to both. All adoption meetings are by appointment only as we only have two employees. Our manager or one of our volunteers will be happy to set up an appointment for you to come meet the pets, but please fill out the adoption application first.Adoption processWe ask all potential adopters to fill out our online adoption application. Our adult cat adoption fee is $125 Our kitten adoption fee is $200 for a single kitten or $350 for a pair. Our adoption fee for dogs varies depending on how much vet care the dog needs. The fee is usually in the range of $150 - $350 and includes spaying/neutering, all vaccinations, heartworm test, microchipping and tick/flea prevention.Shelter locationWe host adoption meetings 7 days a week by appointment.
