Evie came to CAMO Rescue because her original owners had to move to assisted living. In many ways, Evie is a typical terrier pup. She is active and needs exercise through walking or better yet playing with a dog her size or larger. She enjoys being chased around the backyard by her foster mom's dogs. She is either very smart or learned some commands while with her former owners. She is house trained. Evie is about 8 months old and weighs 17 pounds, is spayed and up to date on her vaccinations. Even though she sat in her foster mom's lap in the car after she was picked up, she was very nervous when she got home but settled down quickly. We recommend she be adopted into a home with active dogs at least her size or larger. Her foster mom has a 40-pound beagle/American foxhound and a 23-pound Australian cattle dog mix that she respects. Like a typical terrier, Evie does bark especially at noises and objects at a distance that she does not recognize. Her foster mom is using a spray water bottle to discourage the barking. She likes nylabone type toys and soft toys as well as chasing a ball. It is easy to keep her busy. We do not know how she will be with young children so a family with teenagers, an individual or couple would be best. Because she does bark, apartment living is not for her. If you love terriers, especially a cuddly one, and are looking for a new family member, Evie may be the right one for you. Once your application has been approved, we will put you in touch with the foster to set up a meet and greet. We are a foster based RESCUE, not a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks during the application approval process. We select the best applicant for each dog, based on the dog's needs. For the safety of our small breed dogs and based on our past experiences, we will not place our dogs in homes with large breed dogs.
