As much as we always hope our pets are healthy and will live long, happy lives, sadly, that is not always the case. Blue arrived as a stray, and we learned quickly that his cough just wasn't going away. We are considering Blue as a hospice pup due to him having lower airway disease that has already progressed and since he is symptomatic. He could have a couple of years left for all we know, but we do know that his lifespan could be shorter than we would hope. The best thing about Blue is that he just loves everyone. He has done great with other relaxed and gentle dogs as well as every person he has met. He also was respectful around kitties and really was most interested in their food! He is looking for a home where he can lounge and be loved. If someone you know is retired and/or lives a leisurely lifestyle, maybe a stroll around the block a day, that would be perfect for Blue. He's an easy-going fellow and has been the most perfect office dog at MHS. A slow-paced, couch-potato lifestyle would suit him very well! Hanging out in the sunshine rays is a good speed for him. Blue does have a few other medical things going on. He also is being treated for erhlichia which is a tick-born disease and will be sent home with the medication. He needs to be on U/R food due to having a bladder stone. He has been doing great with that specific food so any interested adopter will need to be conscience in monitoring him for any straining. And lastly, he does have a cherry eye, but that doesn't seem to be causing him any issues! If you are still reading about Blue, then you clearly must be interested and let us tell you, he really is the best boy. His howls are like music to our ears and, speaking of ears, his are THE BEST EVER. He is the most amazing, good boy of all good boys and we are simply smitten with him. He is almost 7ish years, is neutered, and is kind of our resident "Eeyore" unless he has someone petting him or giving him treats. Can he live out his days with you?
