Pandora is a beautiful 8-year old female German Shepherd who was brought to the HSOV on September 24, 2022 after she was picked up on Peaker Run Road/McGrath Road in the Lower Salem Ohio area by a Washington County Deputy Sheriff. Pandora was accompanied by two other German Shepherds (Karmen and Roscoe). All three were wearing collars but there were neither id tags nor dog tags on their collars. One of the dogs (Roscoe) was microchipped so we are in the process of attempting to contact the individual to whom the microchip is registered. Pandora has a jet black medium-haired coat with auburn highlights, a long tail, and a gorgeous face with characteristic features of the German Shepherd breed. Pandora has dark brown eyes, a black button nose on her long muzzle, and large erect ears. Pandora was understandably nervous being in an unfamiliar environment when she first arrived in our shelter. The deputy sheriff who gave Pandora a ride to our shelter noted that she didn't seem very friendly with other dogs but that could have been because she was apprehended by the law. Pandora is a big girl who weighs 82.4 lbs. In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Pandora was held for three days so that her family would have an opportunity to reclaim her with proof of ownership. Surprisingly nobody called or came looking for this beautiful girl. We had taken Pandora's first photos in her kennel on September 24th shortly after her arrival since she wasn't a 'happy camper' at that time, and we looked forward to taking more flattering photos in the event that she was not reclaimed. These updated photos were taken on October 4, 2022 when Pandora was ready to proudly walk outdoors with HSOV Kennel Tech Fredley Tynan. Pandora is a real beauty, and her sleek black coat glistened in the bright sunshine that day. We love Pandora's beautiful classic German Shepherd face! Pandora was quite the lady and posed nicely as she stayed close to Fredley for reassurance and self-confidence. Pandora will be spayed before being adopted by her new family. UPDATE: Pandora has been diagnosed with breast cancer which has spread to other parts of her body. Pandora went home with a compassionate foster mother on January 26, 2023 who will provide hospice/medical foster care for Pandora.
