Marley is a little tiny ray of sunshine! Weighing just 11 pounds (a little more than a gallon of milk), this little one is being fostered in Houston, Texas with 7 other dogs weighing between 7-120 pounds (male and female). She loves the other small dogs, and keeps up pretty good in wrestling matches. After a good wrestling match she loves to snuggle up with her dog friends and her humans on the couch for a movie night. She is a true cuddle bug with a low to moderate energy level. Marley would be great in a home or apartment, but would really love other dogs under 25 pounds to play with. She gets along with big dogs, but will run around and cuddle with other smaller dogs. Marley is also a huge fan of stuffies she can throw in the air and catch. This little girl is easy on the leash, but being so small she is not looking for big adventures unless you want to put her in a stroller or baby sling to bring her along. A trip in the car to Starbucks or for late night ice cream? Yes please! She is your girl! Lunch or dinner at a dog friendly restaurant? Just don’t lose her under the table and expect to put her in the car because she is too tiny to jump up! Marley will “go to bed” with a little reluctance but if you toss treats in the crate she will go right in. Once in bed, she is quiet and sleeps through the night. Potty trained? Check! Cat friendly and kid friendly (if the children have been taught proper boundaries with dogs), Marley is going to be a wonderful addition to someone’s family. Our PNW dogs are brought to you in style by a beautiful USDA licensed semi-truck, equipped with air conditioning for comfort, two drivers, and 2 onboard attendants providing 24 hour care. Our East Coast route will travel in a private, air conditioned 3LP-run van or bus transport. Pick up day is unforgettable! You will get to follow along on their journey through a private FB Event page, where you will see photos, have the opportunity to connect with other adopters, and receive updates and constant communication along the way. We can help to find the closest transport pick up location to you! The adoption fee is $1000 and includes all vetting per our veterinarian: DAPP (2 to 4 depending on age and time in the program), Bordetella, Rabies vaccine, multiple broad spectrum deworming treatments, spay/neuter surgery, flea prevention, 2-6 months of heartworm preventative according to age, heartworm testing and heartworm treatment if applicable, extended medical such as dentals, eye surgeries, and orthopedic surgeries prior to adoption when suggested by our partner vets, a microchip with free lifetime registration, a high quality nylon Martingale collar for dogs over 4 months old, a health certificate deeming the pup healthy for travel, cost of transport*, and many priceless years of love and loyal companionship! *WE ARE TOLD THAT WE GO ABOVE AND BEYOND MEDICALLY. This is the feedback we tend to get, although we cannot guarantee perfect health. *To fully vet a dog in the PNW at many vets it would be upwards of $1,800 just to fix, vaccinate, chip, etc. The adoption fees charged by our rescue do not cover our expenses medically for each animal, but we offset costs with donations. We know our dogs and we work hard to prepare them socially for adoption. We are a network of dedicated people who are heavily invested in seeing our animals thrive. From the moment they are accepted into our program, our Intake, Behavior & Medical teams prepare them for adoption by properly vetting, behaviorally assessing, and providing customized plans depending on the dog’s needs. We provide weekly socialization programs for our dogs through playgroups and group leash training classes available to all dogs in our adoption program, and Doggy Sleepover, Doggy Day Out, and Ambassador programs for our boarding dogs. There is a professional dog trainer on staff to provide support for our fosters and dogs, and an off-site dog trainer for dogs that need more extensive behavior modification. This helps us learn deeply about every dog, prepare them for adoption, and ultimately match them with loving families. We seek to adopt to families who understand that these are rescue dogs and will require continued training efforts, but will be well on their way to being the best dogs that they can be!
