Meet Zuri! Are you an emphatic, nurturing & compassionate human who is looking to save the most deserving and needing soul? Then we need you to continue reading! Zuri was rescued from an extremely bad hoarding case. Poor Zuri lived her whole life (until now) in piles of trash. Never being handled by humans, never shown any affection. Because of this, Zuri is terrified of the world. More so than your “average” scared rescued dog. She is ultra special and needs a very special home. Zuri is scared of new people, places, and all things in existence that move. Even though humans have done her so much harm in the past, she is not reactive. She is just so scared of the unfamiliar and needs humans to go slow when approaching her. No matter how much she is pushed to face her fears, she never tries to bite. Her natural personality is calm, timid, and low energy. She is showing us that she has curiosity and a desire to become braver slowly over time. She wants a better life, but needs lots of help getting there. Zuri is learning how to be “normal” city dog. Her current training goals are walking on leash without hesitation, being petted and picked up without warning (she is good if you go slow) and not hiding while free roaming the house. Every day she improves and becomes more curious, comfortable and open to affection. Zuri perks her ears up when she gets comfortable and slowly untucks her tail. She loves laying in the grass or a big dog bed, hunting for bugs and rolling in the clover. She has big brown eyes that look deep into your soul. She never barks. She moves calmly and slowly around the house. Once out on leash she slowly sniffs about and calmly and cautiously goes for walks. She shows us that she is sweet, smart and loving. She just needs an experienced adopter to teach her that the world isn’t all bad, that she is going to always be safe now. She is spayed, microchipped, dewormed, and current with all vaccines (as appropriate for her age) and on flea and heartworm prevention. Zuri is currently being fostered in South Carolina.
