HELLO!!! My name is Scruffy!! I am a special guy with some special requirements but I am hopeful I can find my family really soon. Please read my full bio before applying (I worked very hard on it).I came to the rescue in June 2023 after running as a stray in an Indianapolis neighborhood for at least 4 months. The shelter life was not for me so I was placed in a safe and warm foster home with Tracking in the Shadows. I am about 3 years old and 18 lbs. I am nervous and fearful around new people and experiences and will need slow introductions and a quiet home with not a lot of strangers going in and out. I love to run and play with other dogs. I love my toys. I love them so much sometimes I destroy them. I am also housetrained and I do well in a crate/kennel although I feel more comfortable with extra space to move around. I am very treat motivated and need to continue working on confidence building with fear free force free classes or a personal trainer. I like to do the zoomies around the yard. I will absolutely NEED a SECURE fenced in yard and another confident dog (or dogs) in the home! These are non negotiable for me. I also like going on walkies and am pretty good on the leash but do need someone that can help me with my loose leash walking skills.I am ok with cats. I would probably do ok with older teenage children that'll give me the time and space I need to feel comfortable. I need a patient home that'll understand it may take months before I feel comfortable enough to even allow touch. Once I am comfortable though I am very sweet and snuggly. I promise you I am worth it! Scruffy is fully vetted and microchipped and his adoption fee has been sponsored by his friends down in Indianapolis.
