Melrose is a sweet and gorgeous girl with big brown eyes. She is so smart, loving and sensitive. She needs a little patience, she can be nervous at first but once she trusts you she shows nothing but unconditional love and loyalty. Personality & Characteristics: When at home she likes to have her people near by. She loves lots of attention and kisses. As a greeting, she will show you the most dramatic butt wagging you will ever see as she tries to bring you as many toys as she can fit in her mouth. She's a huge fan of treats including baby carrots and enjoys puzzles and toys with secret treats inside to keep her busy. When she's not up and about, she likes to cuddle and get massages. She gets very excited to go on walks but can get nervous of too many people and dogs outside, with lots of time and patience I think this will get better but she would do best in a quiet neighborhood. Needs and Considerations:Like many of us, Melrose has her own set of unique needs. She can be a bit anxious around other dogs and some new people, a trait not uncommon in young dogs. Melrose will thrive best in a home where she can receive gentle guidance and reassurance as she navigates these anxieties. A patient and understanding adopter, willing to provide her with gradual socialization experiences, will be key to helping her become more comfortable in various settings.She currently eats a salmon and sweet potato dry food and does not do well with meat based food as far as I know. She also gets a lot of baby carrots as treats when she comes in from using the bathroom outside. She is potty trained but does need lots of bathroom breaks, she also does well in her crate when persuaded with a peanut butter kong to keep her busy. She's a softie but she's also very alert to noises, she will sometimes bark a few times if she thinks she hears noises.My foster dog is good with: Dogs & CatsMy foster dog is Crate Trained, house-broken if you stick to the schedule, and low shedding.3 Keywords for your pup: Curious, spunky, and loving.Energy Level (1= calm, 10= high energy): 6 or 7Barker? Or Quiet Pup?: will bark only if she hears someone coming in but quickly stops, if she thinks she hears an intruder she will be on alert. Walking Manners: Still learning, tends to walk on the faster side. Could use work, can get anxious when it's too crowded or sees another dog, will do best in quiet neighborhood. Appetite: SHE LOVES FOOD and TREATS! Does the following: (Gets car sick, nervous outside, has separation anxiety, hates the bath, none of the above) She is very excited to go on a walk but is anxious outside around certain people and dogs. She does get sad and cry for a little while if one of us leaves but she gets over it eventually. It's fine putting her in her crate with a treat and leaving. She will be VERY excited to see you when you get back home. Favorite Things:, Treats, playing in the snow and with sticks, playing with puzzle toys, bones, backyards, cuddles, belly rubs, naps.Commands/Tricks: Mel knows Sit . She also knows " No" and understands to stop what she is doing. She's also learning Stop and Wait/Stay. ALL adoptions require a completed application and final contract.
