How this pet arrived: Ray was brought in by a community member on May 15, 2024.Why this pet is the one for you:Meet Ray, an adventurous turtle with a mind of his own. Ray is a healthy and energetic guy with places to go and things to do. Like other red-eared slider turtles, he uses his mouth to protect himself, so he's best suited to a home where this natural behavior is understood and respected. Red-eared sliders are an invasive species in California, and should go to prepared homes where they can live out their days in comfort, without being able to run (er, slowly walk) away. Although sliders can live in huge (100+ gallon) indoor aquariums, their ideal living situation is an outdoor pond with room to swim, bask, and explore. Ray's pond should be established and bioactive, or equipped with a filter to keep their pool clean! Red-eared sliders live long lives (20+ years), so Ray needs someone to provide for them in the long term. Ray does enjoy their turtle pellets, but they will need to be supplemented with a species-specific omnivorous diet. Ray can't wait to bask in the sun in their new home!
