Description:

Pug Dog for Adoption in St. Louis Park, Minnesota, 55416 USNickname: Imogen Posted Breed: Pug (short coat). Thank you for stopping by to see me! Please fill out an application to set up a private meeting. VRS by ME I’ve heard it’s good to let humans know all about you, so take a seat because I have lots to share. I’m looking for a forever home here but require one that will allow me the space and time I need to come out of my shell. I was a momma before I was even one year old so I’m just starting to explore all the things I missed out on, like running around a fenced yard, playing with other dogs and living in a house. I was terrified of humans when I first arrived in MN and even human contact. I’m now beginning to learn that humans can be warm and loving. I’ve just started following my foster mom around, taking food from her hand and sleeping at her feet (occasionally I will give them kisses even)! But as for petting, I need more time for that. I even hope you’ll slowly acclimate me to fun and positive outings/experiences but just know I’ll be very timid until I feel safe and comfortable. Do you know what my foster mom said? “I bet once she is socialized to humans and going out, I get the impression she will be a little queen and sassy pants love bug!” Changes in my environment and routine can take me a few weeks to get used to, but I promise with time and patience that you will see my personality - I may backpeddle a bit due to that change, but we'll get back to making progress together. Some things I’ll need in my forever home are a fenced yard, another dog (smaller ones are all I’ve been around) and someone who’ll give me the space and time I need to learn to be comfortable enough to come out of my shell. I would do best without small, energetic kids, too, but older ones who give me time and space are ok! I enjoy running about the fenced yard with other dogs, chew on bully sticks, nap in comfy beds and napping on feet. I am crate and potty trained too! We are still working on leash training and that may take a while. And I may bark a little when left alone but quiet down after a minute or two. As for my health, well, I'm a typical pug that has some chronic breed related matters. I do have chronic dry eye so I will need to be on drops for my entire life - right now I am on two of them. You see, my eye balls are too large for my eye sockets, and my eyelids don't close all the way over them. Because of that, I have dry eyes that never get lubrication. The meds are to help me lubricate my eyes. I took a trip to Dr. Olivero (the vet eye specialist) and he confirmed what other vets have seen to this regard. There are some surgery options, but they wouldn't fix my eyes fully and the scaring over my eyes will always remain. He said it wasn't needed at this time, but my forever home should have my eyes rechecked with him in 6 months to be sure this remains the case and being given my daily eye meds. Maybe down the road I would be a candidate for a surgery, but right now the meds it is - and I take them like a pro, so I don't mind. I’ll pass on agility, jumping off sofas and extreme sports to save my knees. I’ve got luxating patellas (knees) on both sides, so I’ll have to stay at a healthy weight and monitored when you take me to the vet. Right now, it does not require surgery and I am not a candidate for surgery, but is something we should keep a watch for in the future. They are graded 4/4, but they do not cause me issues, so the vet said we would wait until that day came, if ever, before doing surgery. Here is a list of things foster mom said you should know: She rides great in the car in her kennel. Loves to play with other dogs & toys. Has great house manners. Chews only appropriate things (bully sticks, yak cheese chews, etc.) Loves food, very food motivated. Likes to be near her family. Takes her cues from the other dogs in the home. Adorable, playful, & fun to watch her bloom as she experiences the world and grows in her confidence. Hope to see you soon! *Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopters expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses . Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in th eir forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home. ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there*** If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiriesunderdogrescuemn> ADOPTION EVENTS: Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend. Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: .underdogrescuemn/adoptionprocess/ Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN. All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at .underdogrescuemn/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience. If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website .underdogrescuemn/foster-applications and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets. All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet. All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal. YOU CAN HELP: Not able to foster or adopt right now? Please consider sponsoring an Underdog.
