Bernese Mountain Dog Mix Dog for Adoption in FAIRLAWN, Ohio, 44060 USNickname: Yogi PENDING ADOPTION Posted Breed: Poodle (unknown type) / Bernese Mountain Dog / Mixed (long coat). Yogi was surrendered to is by an Amish breeder because he had a "bad leg". We weren't sure what that meant, but knew he needed help and said yes. He went to his vet appt this week, and he will need surgery. He has lateral luxating patellas in both knees. Yogi is a happy boy and doesn't let it slow him down * shh nobody told him he was broken. He will need a recheck middle of June to see how he is developing and to set up dates for surgeries as the Dr sees fit. We are looking for a local foster to adopt home that is willing and able to get him to his vet appointments in Cuyahoga Falls. Cost of surgeries related to the knee will be 100% covered by the rescue - the vets will bill us directly. Yogi is 4 months (12/13/23) 16 pounds. Mini poodle / BMD Mix Crate trained good with other dogs * hasn't been around cats or kids. Doing good on housebreaking, but still a work in progress. A home with small children is not a good match as he will need several weeks/months of rest and recovery. With in under 30 minutes distance from Cuyahoga Falls is ideal. We don't know the exact schedule for the surgery(s) yet, but it will be several trip overly weeks /months. He will need his recheck evaluation mid June. Then they will schedule surgery 3-4 weeks out most likely. Then he may need recheck at 1 week , 2weeks, 4 weeks post op. We do not know if he will be able to do both knees in 1 surgery or it will need to be 2 separate surgeries. So possibly multiply that by 2. And as needed, if there might be an issue. There is also the post op recovery of no running jumping etc, and making sure during this down time he doesn't gain weight which would put more pressures on his knees. This animal is current on all age appropriate vaccines, dewormed, microchipped, and spayed/neutered or will go home with an already scheduled appointment. They have also been given flea prevention.
