Retriever Mix Dog for Adoption in Cuba, New York, 14727 USNickname: Abner Puerto Rico Posted Breed: Yellow Labrador Retriever / Retriever / Mixed (short coat). Abner was born about February 16, 2024 and we feel he will top out in the 50-60 pound range. Abner has really blossomed since joining us from Puerto Rico where he was born and lived the first 10 weeks of his life. He seems to be on the quiet side (which we love) as we still have not heard him bark! Maybe he learned not to bark during his upbringing so as not to draw attention to himself, his siblings, and his mom as they were trying to survive on their own in the rain forest. Abner appears to resemble a Lab but if you do a DNA test we wouldn't be surprised to see many other breeds listed based on our experience of dogs that come from the island. He is still a puppy, but we find him to be on the calmer side - he's not a wild and crazy puppy! He likes to observe his surroundings and kind of take everything in. He's not a jumper and did we mention we haven't heard him bark? Abner does love other dogs and is very playful and loves to wrestle. He will play fetch and drops the toy when he brings it back to you! He is doing great walking on leash and is also doing well on house training. Sometimes in the morning when we first go outside instead of doing his business he finds the porch dog bed and let's us know that he really would have liked to sleep in a bit longer. Abner is truly a joy to have around and he will make a wonderful companion! The Adoption Fee for this dog is $_600.00_. Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability. In general our fees include spay/neuter, all age appropriate vaccines, Home Again micro-chipping & registration, worming & flea control - a "complete" pet. We accept CASH or Visa/Mastercard ONLY. Joyful Rescues has no funding except for our adoption fees and miscellaneous donations. Pet care and vet bills are expensive - you must be ready to take on this financial (as well as emotional) responsibility. YOU MUST BE AT LEAST 25 YEARS OF AGE TO ADOPT A DOG FROM JOYFUL RESCUES We keep our pet list as up-to-date as possible. As soon as a pet is adopted, it is removed from the list.
