Hello there! My name is Jewel, and I'm a 4-year old Retriever mix who weighs about 50 pounds. I'm a gentle and loyal gal looking for my forever home. I'm house-trained and love to go outside for my potty breaks. At night, I prefer to sleep in a cozy dog bed on the floor of the bedroom or wherever I feel most comfortable in the house. Crates aren't my thing—I enjoy having the freedom to pick my favorite nap spots.When it comes to exercise, I enjoy spending time in the yard and going for brief walks. I have a playful side and like playing with toys. Sometimes, I might pull a little on the leash, but with gentle guidance, I’m sure to improve.I can be shy and reserved when meeting new people, but once I warm up, I love to follow you around and be your loyal shadow. I thrive in a quiet home where I can feel safe and loved. I haven't been around children much, but my gentle nature suggests I would do well with older, quieter kids who understand the importance of being gentle and calm. Loud voices can make me a bit uneasy, so a quieter household would be best for me.I do get anxious in the car and tend to get carsick. I'm still learning how to sit comfortably during rides, so a seatbelt or some practice might help me feel more secure. Also, I drink lots of water and can be a bit of a messy drinker, but that’s just part of my charm! One more thing—watch the door when you’re leaving because I love to try and join you on your outings.I am currently undergoing treatment for Heartworm disease. Wish Bone will provide the medication needed for me to finish my treatment. This is not contagious to other animals, as Heartworm is transmitted through the bite of an infected mosquito. If you’re looking for a gentle and loyal companion who will warm your heart with my quiet presence, I might be the perfect match for you. I can’t wait to find a loving home where I can be your forever friend.
