Draven came to TJO in need of serious medical attention but he didn't let it get him down. He has been nothing but friendly and outgoing since arrival, often seranading staff with his Husky Song. OTHER PETS: Draven is a social, outgoing dog who would likely do well with other dogs; as with all our adoptable dogs he should meet whatever dogs would be living with him prior to adoption. [Likely (Must Meet First)] OWNER EXPERIENCE: Draven is still recovering from his ordeal and will need monitoring to ensure he does not push himself too hard while he finishes healing. As a husky, Draven will need appropriate physical and mental stimulation to ensure he is engaged and occupied - experience with Huskies/Malamutes or other intelligent, high energy dogs is preferred. [Very Experienced]KIDS: Draven is social, outgoing dog who would likely do well with some smaller humans, but should definitely meet any minors he would be living with prior to adoption. [10+ (Must Meet First)]ACTIVITY LEVEL: Huskies need both mental and physical stimulation regularly, multiple walks [Olympic Athlete]VETERINARY CARE: Draven is still recovering medically, and will need monitoring and treatment until he is fully healed. Anyone interested in adopting will need a good relationship with a vet and will need to sit down with TJO veterinary staff to talk about his ongoing treatment. [Above Average] LEVEL OF TRAINING NEEDED: Positive reinforcement training will help Draven bond with his new owner as well as ensuring he masters his basic commands and behavorial expectations. Draven could be a good doggy daycare candidate once he has his training down pat, and he could also explore other activities with additional training like flyball, agility, hiking, lure coursing, weight pulling or dock diving. [Moderate] GROOMING: Huskies shed a lot and blow their coats twice a year. Daily brushing will help Draven stay comfortable and matt-free, some people choose to have a professional groomer help with the shedding increases biannualy. [Routine Brushing] May 28, 2024, 1:51 pm
