Meet Bodie! Located in Raleigh, NC but open to new homes in different states along the east coast He is an active and adventure loving boy! Bodie recently came into our rescue as an owner surrender, and thankfully, a local foster was willing to evaluate him and take him on as a foster dog to make sure he avoids the shelter life and finds a forever home that suits him! He is young, 13mos old, but fixed and UTD! This boy loves being outside, and will self-entertain if left outside alone but will routinely check the door asking where you are and to come play with him. He loves playing with balls, basketballs, frisbees, etc. Loves water/baby pools and little streams. Not sure if he can swim yet..... He can be a puller on a leash/harness so he is working on that. He's not absolutely terrible, but he enjoys going for long walks but he can be strong on leash so adopters should be aware. He is on a minor diet and with regular exercise he should trim down just fine. Foster home has cats and several male dogs. Bodie has been introduced to two male dogs and offers play with both a stronger personality and softer personality. He can be a bit rough and intentionally bump into dogs so an older dog may not be a good fit who shouldn't be pushed around. Cats, he will chase, but so far has not offered to harm one as he is constantly exposed to our outdoor cat who seems relatively comfortable around him. Sometimes, Bodie may be a bit too much for him and I intervene. Bodie wasn't kennel trained before coming into foster, but he has done fabulous with it and learning to settle. Bodie would love to have a home with someone who will commit to further his training both indoors and outdoors. Someone who enjoys the outdoors as much as he does! Someone who understands Bodie is yearning for a bond with someone to give all his love to. Bodie will need in-home structure and firm boundaries and someone willing to teach him but most importantly, have fun with him! He could likely excel in sports if you wanted to dabble in that direction- I think he would really like things like FastCat, scent work, barn hunt and maybe even dock diving. Bodie is a solid candidate to want to take shoes/socks so having those put away or keeping an eye on him is key. Bodie was around older children at one point, but its been awhile and would probably need to be re-introduced. He's not a mean dog, but knocking one over wouldnt be out of the question. Overall, a sweet boy who avoided being surrendered to an overcrowded shelter just living the best life he can live in a multi-dog, multi-cat household learning new boundaries and routines and doing exceptionally well and looking for the final place to call home!
