And every morning, you will start your day with kisses from your four-legged BFF and then a (not so subtle) request for a belly rub.Lucy came to us from a hoarding situation with many dogs and was not properly socialized so everything she’s experienced the past month in rescue has been brand new. While this gal is a total sweetheart and love bug, she is very timid in new situations. She has come a long way, but her new family will need to have patience and continue to work with her. Because Lucy will whine some while her people are away she needs a single-family home. We are also looking for a home that is on the quiet side and no kids under 10.Lucy is more of a couch potato than a walking buddy. Her second favorite spot (behind sleeping next to you in the big bed) is hanging out on the couch, preferably with a toy or three. But she’s not a huge fan of walking, well, not a fan at all. She knows how to walk on a leash, but when she’s done, she’s done. And with Lucy in your life, you will know the joy of getting giggles from passerby’s as you carry your dachshund home from a walk.This beautiful girl is housetrained on a good schedule. Because she bonds deeply, she will turn into a watch dog and protect her home (like most dachshunds) from new people. Her new family will need to work on good introductions with her. Other than some growling when she goes into watch dog mode over perceived intruders, we’ve seen no aggression even when she’s scared to death. Because she lived in a home with other dogs all of her life, we are looking for a new home where she will have at least one dog buddy to help give her confidence. Lucy is spayed, had a dental, UTD on shots, heartworm negative and microchipped. Her new family will need to travel to Raleigh to adopt – no transports. We prefer to adopt to families within 4 hours of central NC, which includes NC, VA, SC, DC area, eastern TN, northern GA.Lucy has come so far in the time she’s been with us and blossomed so much. But she’s got a ways to go to feel comfortable in new situations. And with a patient and loving family, we can’t wait to see how far she will come and bloom.##2020337##
