A Pup with a Heart as Warm as California Sunshine Meet Monterey! Monterey is in a foster home in Spokane, WA and can be transported to your area. (See information below in the “Adopting from Path of Hope Rescue” section.). Monterey, along with her four siblings, journeyed cross country from Texas to our rescue in Spokane. Friendly and affectionate, Monterey is a sweet, energetic girl who loves to be near her people. She is all clumsy puppy, often bouncy and wiggly at the same time as she chases after a ball or her sibling. She plays well with dogs, though she is a little perplexed by rough and tumble play and will seek out the comfort of the nearest human. She does well with children and cats, too. After a day of romping, nothing makes her happier than settling in for snuggles on the couch. Monterey is more than just a pet—she's a loyal friend and companion. Whether you're embarking on a road trip or simply lounging at home, she'll be by your side, ready to share in all of life's experiences. A quick learner, Monterey is working on her basic skills. Already a great sleeper, she has started potty training and will spend several hours at a time in her crate. She will start on obedience and leash skills shortly. Monterey’s ideal home? Yours, probably! Monterey has a heart as warm as the California sun. She's kind, compassionate, and always ready to shower her family with love and affection. She would love a home with opportunities for walks or fetch games in the backyard, toys for playing, (dog and kids would be a plus but not required), and people to love who will love her in return and ensure she learns the skills that will make her a well-balanced and happy dog. We are primarily a volunteer organization that focuses on transporting pregnant dogs and puppies from Texas, the number one kill state in America. The dogs we rescue are in poor living conditions and on euthanasia lists in shelters that are inundated with unwanted animals. We want to give these dogs a chance and bring them to the Pacific Northwest to find adoptive, loving homes. Our adoption process sets us apart. We specialize in learning about you and your family to find just the right fit for you. Our Matchmakers are not only good at what they do; they will also guide you through the entire process. Our Minimum Adoption Donation is $550 for puppies under a year and $450 for dogs one year and older. We are a WA state registered non-profit and rely heavily on adoption donations to cover the expenses associated with saving lives. Our dogs are spayed/neutered prior to adoption; microchipped with free lifetime registration; and up to date on DAPP, Bordetella, and Rabies vaccines (when age appropriate) and heartworm and deworming. Adopters can also earn a $100 training refund if they attend (6) hours of any in person training course. We are 100% foster based; our dogs are fostered in loving homes where they are house and crate trained and learn basic obedience and leash skills. Dogs experience socialization opportunities with people, places, and other animals, and they receive the attention required to become well-rounded, healthy, and affectionate dogs that they would not otherwise receive in a shelter environment. Our commitment does not end when the dog is adopted. Path of Hope offers post adoption owner support including information on making the dog’s transition to your home a smooth one; recommendations for Preferred Trainers; advice on pet behavior and wellness topics; Facebook litter groups to keep in touch with fellow adopters; and invitations to local rescue hosted events. Adopters may choose to travel to Spokane to pick up their dog or use our monthly transport option, Puppy Delivery Express, for an additional delivery donation of $250.
