BJ is an adorable, wiggly, happy guy! BJ is one of 9 beautiful puppies that our lovely girl Roxie had. Roxie was picked up as a stray, pregnant in Houston, and had 9 gorgeous pups in the shelter. A week later, all 10 of them transported to Colorado. Roxie, the mom, is believed to be a Schnauzer / Bearded Collie mix. Unfortunately we have no idea who the dad is, but the vets think that they could have some Labrador in them. BJ is 7 weeks old, and 9 lbs. Roxie, BJ's mom is 40 lbs. BJ may be anywhere from 35-45 lbs full grown. BJ's foster has been with him since he was just 1 week old, and had the following to say about him: "BJ is the sweetest little guy that loves to snuggle up on your lap any chance he gets. This sleepy boy is our little chipmunk puppy who has the most beautiful coloring. BJ is very attentive and is always observing his surroundings. He is very relaxed but also knows when to play and not to mention... BJ LOVES kisses!!" BJ has a stunning scruffy coat, which he no doubt got from his beautiful mom. His hair will need commitment to periodic brushing and grooming to keep him comfortable and matt-free. BJ is a social little guy, and is ready to find his forever home! Since BJ is just a puppy, he's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show him the way. He has all the potential in the world to be an awesome adult companion. He will form firm bonds with his family and learn positive socialization skills through virtual or in-person positive reinforcement puppy kindergarten followed by force-free level 1 Obedience Classes. These classes will make a profound difference in a puppy's ultimate behavior and in their relationship/bonding with their people. It does take time and commitment...yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you out in the world with excellent behavior. BJ, being so young, has only had 1 vaccine. He has also been fully vetted and dewormed twice. It is SO important to know that BJ cannot go out on public ground until he has his last 2 booster shots. This means no walks, and be sure to avoid public grass. Farfel's does not cover any vaccines after pick up, however we DO cover the full cost of BJ's neuter. BJ is too young to be neutered, but when he is 6-8 months old we will cover the full cost. Neuter is REQUIRED to finalize any adoption. Per the state of Colorado, the adopter is legally considered a foster until the dog is neutered. Farfel's Rescue is a fully foster based rescue, and offers a one week trial with every adoption. We feel that this is much more beneficial to not only the dog, but the adopter too. We believe that only getting 20-30 minutes with a dog before deciding on a lifetime commitment is not a fair amount of time to the adopter, or the dog. Therefore we give adopters one week with the dog to assure it is the right fit, and offer a full refund of their adoption fee should it not workout within the week trial. Farfel's Rescue has been doing adoptions this way since 2005 and is thrilled to adopt out ~400 dogs each year. Applications are currently being accepted for our wonderful pup.
