Well, hi there, I'm Panda! Wow, I am so lucky, you know why? Because I get to live inside now! You see, I lived in a van up until I came to the shelter. It was pretty awful. There were a bunch of other dogs and my people, too.But they did the right thing and brought us all here to try to find new homes. Some of the other dogs have left already - that didn't take long! I'm still here because I wasn't quite as healthy as they were. The other day a nice lady took me for a ride in her car. We went to a place with other nice people, and they made me lay down on a table. I don't know why - I wasn't even tired! Then they took a picture of my knees. I wonder how they knew they have been a little ouchy lately.When the shelter vet looked at my pictures, he said I had something called a luxating patella and I would need surgery to fix it. I didn't know what all that meant, but I trusted him, so I had the surgery right here at the shelter. He said I did great for the surgery, but now comes the hard part ... the recovery.I'll need to stay calm for a few weeks, but I'm a puppy, so that's not going to be easy! They also said I can start looking for a new home right away, as long as my new family understands that I will need time and a little human participation to make a full recovery. Woohoo! How exciting is that?My new family is going to have to follow the vet's instructions, just like I will, and help me through this recovery period. My Mom and Dad are going to have to help me move my leg every day to keep it limber, or I won't be able to do those ballet positions I've been working so hard on (heehee). Seriously, though, the physical therapy that the vet will show my new family is easy, and it will help my knee heal better, and give me better range of motion so I can live comfortably. It's going to seem like a l-o-n-g time, but it will be worth it in the end.I'm just a little guy - a Corgi mix, so I won't be too big when I'm full grown. Since I'm a puppy, I love to play, and chase a ball, and climb up in your lap, and do all those things like puppies do.I'll also get into things I shouldn't get into, chew things I shouldn't chew, and I might pee on your good rug. Sorry.I'd love to meet you if you think I'd be the right fit for your home. It would be great if you already have a dog. I could play with her and she could teach me all about living in a real home. I think I'd be OK with cats, too. I don't think I've ever met one face-to-face, but I hear they can be fierce. I hope yours is nicer than that.The girls at the shelter said they'd find just the right home for me, because I'm a special little guy, and I'm going to be a work in progress for the next few months. So if that's your family, and you're willing to put some work into getting me fit-as-a-fiddle again, I'll be here waiting to meet you!
