Meet Collette (aka Cocoa): Cocoa is about a 2 year old (as of May 2024) hound / Australian shepherd mix (best guess) that weighs 75 pounds. Collette was rescued as a puppy (Pammy’s litter of 5) into a loving home. The family is heartbroken that they have had to ask to have her rehomed. Unfortunately, their son has developed severe allergies that have landed him in the hospital multiple times. They have worked with doctors to try to manage the situation, but had to make the extremely difficult decision for their family. Cocoa has been described as the absolute best dog! Cocoa is a huge sweetheart and loves to be around any person, newborn to grandparent! She was raised with a newborn and regularly visits her grandparents who are in their 70s, as well as a pre teen, and 2 cats (1 kitten, 1 senior). She is very good at knowing her audience. Cocoa knows when to walk slowly and not pull if she is being walked by elderly and she goes on runs with her current owner and stays right on pace. She follows commands excellently. Cocoa loves to run in the yard and currently has a large yard to do so. A GPS HALO Collar is currently used and she rarely goes outside her boundaries. She was trained to use a specific area of the yard to go to the bathroom so all the bathroom activity is done in a specific section so no surprises when kids playing outside. Cocoa loves to be outside and be involved with others. She plays nicely with the cat she lives with now who she met when she was a kitten, and knew right away to not bother the senior cat! She loves kids of all ages and gender and plays very well with them. She mostly follows her mom around now, so her new family should be prepared for her to pick a favorite and stick to them like Velcro. She does well with men and women, young and old. She sleeps in her crate or her dog bed, but if you give her the chance she will sleep right next to you in bed or curl up at the end of your bed. Her long tail wags like a helicopter and she is such a happy girl! Her family says “Cocoa is the absolute best dog who is smart, playful, and an absolute angel who just wants to be loved and pet.” Cocoa is up to date on her shots and spayed.
