We have had Patrick for a little over three years - he's a very sweet, well-trained Treeing Walker Coonhound. He is a rescue, and was recovered from a situation where he had been starved and was very badly malnourished. As a result, we have dealt with some resource guarding issues. We spent a lot of time training and working with our vet, and his behavioral issues have largely gone away. However, he still has brief outbursts a few times per year. These are very rare and last seconds, and never occur with anything he usually gets (like his food, treats, etc.) but he still acts out if he finds something special and doesn’t want it to be taken (and this can be pretty unpredictable – one time he protected a lotion bottle he found, no clue why). Despite the rarity of these incidents, we have made the difficult decision that we can't keep Patrick due to his behavioral issues. We really think he is a wonderful and loving dog, and is just in need of the right home.
