How this pet arrived: Austin was brought in by a community member on 5/12/24. Why this pet is the one for you: > At SDHS: This pet has been vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. Austin is now ready for their new home! Austin came in to the shelter as a stray so we don't have too much history for him, in care we have gotten to know Austin, and here is some information we do know for him:Behavior history summary:Austin entered into care in May 2024. Austin had displayed fearful and avoidant behaviors including tenser body, and pulling back away from staff upon bringing him into a kennel and during initial intake treatments. Over time in care, Austin has become more relaxed and developed positive, social relationships with staff.Cats:No history while in care.Dogs:Austin's finder saw another dog with Austin prior to him entering into care. No known history while in care.Kids:Due to fearful behaviors, Austin is recommended to be adopted into a home without children under the age of 10. All children in household should be able to comprehend and adhere to consent petting (pat, pet, pause) and be aware when Austin may need breaks from handling and petting. At counselor's discretion.Behavior consult:Virtual consult for fearful behavior required.Additional information:Austin may be most successful in a quiet household with a small household size.
