Pekingese Mix Dog for Adoption in Lakewood, Colorado, 80135 USNickname: Vern Posted Breed: Pekingese / Mixed. Vern is my dream foster dog! He came to me somewhat nervous, very alert to see what to do that might please me. He continues wanting to please but now in a happy, relaxed manner. He plays with my small dogs if they agree. If not, he keeps himself entertained with doggy toys and chew bones. He sleeps and eats in his crate and willingly goes in (with a treat) when I leave the house. He has a good appetite now that his URI is cleared: Kibble with some canned food. He is house trained and easily learned to use the doggy door. Now he goes out the doggy door to enjoy the back yard in addition to going potty. My experience in trying to walk with Vern on a leash has not been successful, so I carry him. Vern loves to give kisses and snuggle. He needs a good grooming due to some serious matted fur, especially around his ears. Vern seems to be perfectly happy as a couch potato pup. He's definitely a 'people' dog not an 'action' dog. Lover boy Vern Vern was rescued from a high kill shelter in Texas. Meet and greets are by appointment only. Adoption fees help cover the medical care of the animals while he or she waits for a new home, as well as food and transportation costs. These fees help to provide care for the other animals in the shelter or rescue group who may have medical bills that are much higher than any possible adoption fee. The money also acts as a donation to help support the organization as a whole, allowing the group to continue its efforts to rescue and rehome pets. The dogs in our care are fostered in Colorado, Texas, and New Mexico. While all dogs are picked up during our scheduled times, sometimes transport dates change due to unforeseen circumstances.
