Maxwell arrived at NCCR on 5/28/24, picked up as a local stray. Since Maxwell was not claimed by his owner, he is now looking for a furever family of his own. He is thought to be a Pug/Jack Russell Terrier mix, around 7-8 years old. Maxwell arrived in neglected condition, dirty and full of fleas, but he is already looking and feeling better with a little TLC and appropriate treatment. Update from Maxwell's foster home: So far things are going well with Maxwell. He seems to feel at home. He enjoys relaxing outdoors for extended periods of time. He would like to have a fenced yard at his forever home. He does not interact much with my dogs yet. They are curious about each other, but give each other space. He is fond of attention, pets, and a good belly rub. I assume he was an only dog. Maxwell is not in any hurry to eat small meals or treats. As a result, I have to separate him from mine so they don’t take his food. He did show some aggression when one of my dogs tried to steal his dental treat. I don’t blame him one bit! Other than that, he has good manners, is house trained, doesn’t bark excessively, and is a fairly low key guy. We haven’t seen a playful side yet. I put his things near a bed on the couch. This is his favorite spot, but he is also content stretching out on the floor. He loves walks, but is a bit crazed getting ready! We will work on the pulling. I will provide updates after he has been here a little while. I feel anyone would be lucky to have him.
