This happy-go-lucky boy was found as a stray by a Good Samaritan who contacted our rescue for help. Jack had been abandoned and had wounds on his face that were first thought to be injuries but turned out to be abscesses from a mouth infection. He had a thorough dental cleaning with multiple extractions and is now fully healed. Jack is in a foster home with a mom and dad, a teen son, another small dog, and two cats. He does well with everyone and is a live-and-let-live kind of dog. Even after everything he’s been through, he is a sweet, trusting, affectionate boy, and his happiness is infectious. Jack is housetrained, crate-trained, has a medium energy level, and loves to go for walks. He will make a great family dog because he’s very adaptable and good with kids, dogs, and cats. We checked in with his foster mom, Jill, for an update: “Jack is the happiest and most affectionate dog. He has been through so much, but you would never know it. He is ALWAYS happy!!! He loves people and loves to be around them! Jack loves to sit next to you on the couch. I’m sure he would love to sleep with us at night if he was allowed. He sleeps on the ottoman next to my bed. I tried the crate at night and he HATED it but we do use the crate when we leave for an extended time only because my dog can be a jerk. Jack loves to go on walks and gets very excited when he sees his leash. He’s great meeting other dogs and has totally ignored my cats. He’s still learning commands and would benefit from some basic training. He will bark when my dog does but settles down pretty quickly. Jack will make someone a very happy dog owner. I cannot stress enough about Jack’s good demeanor. He’s had a cone on for at least 6 weeks, open wounds on his face, and abscessed teeth. All through this he has been so sweet. His tail is always wagging. Nothing appears to bother this dog. He doesn’t even get bothered going to the vet! His happiness is infectious!” Jack will be coming to the DC Metro area on 7/6.
