Gamora (whose real name is Lexi) is a 2-year old female (possible) Terrier/Miniature Pinscher/Chihuahua mix who was brought to the HSOV on June 5, 2024 by the Washington County Ohio Dog Warden. A Good Samaritan had found Gamora the previous day on Veto Circle in the Belpre Ohio area and kept safe overnight. Gamora was a very frightened little lady who unfortunately bit the Good Samaritan and was placed on the mandatory 10-day bite quarantine in our shelter. Gamora was scanned for a microchip when she entered our shelter (and one was detected), but she has not been reclaimed. We learned that her real name is Lexi and that she was described as a 'lap dog' who danced for treats and loved to play. She reportedly liked children and cats, but we have not yet verified that (or whether she likes other dogs). Lexi has some separation anxiety issues which is almost certainly causing her great stress since she is now in a small cage by herself. Lexi has a dark tan/brown short smooth coat, a long tail, and a cute face with dark brown eyes, a tiny black button nose on her slender muzzle, and semi-erect ears. Lexi currently weighs 20.6 lbs. She has some skin issues (possible hyperpigmentation) with a charcoal/black leathery appearance on her belly, in her ears, and on the top of her paws. These photos were taken on June 16, 2024 when HSOV Kennel Tech Emily Beaver accompanied Lexi for outdoor photos. Lexi was quite comfortable with Emily since she'd been helping to take care of her for the past several weeks. It takes awhile to gain Lexi's trust if she doesn't know you, so she doesn't rush into a relationship.Adoption processOur adoption process includes an adoption application which must be completed and approved by our shelter management. We verify veterinarian references and also approval from landlords if the pet will be housed in rental property. Home visits may also be required prior to adoption. All dogs/cats must be spayed/neutered before being adopted. Adoption fee for dogs is $150.00 which includes vaccinations, wormer, flea treatment, dog tag, microchip, and spay/neuter. Adoption fee for cats is $40 and includes vaccinations, wormer, flea treatment, and spay/neuter. Most adult cats (and kittens over 3-months of age) have already been spayed/neutered. Adoption fees for other species varies.Shelter locationWe are located at 90 Mt. Tom Rd. in Marietta ,Ohio 45750. We are open Tuesday through Saturday from 11:00am to 5:00pm; Sunday from Noon to 3:00pm. . Closed on Monday..
