Young girl seeking fresh start and love! TOTO NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Name: Toto Best Guess for Breed: Lab/retriever mix Best Guess for Age: 2 years as of June 2024 SEX: Female Approximate Weight: 35 lbs Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen her with kids or cats but she can be tested Currently Living at: Texas shelter; needs a foster or forever home in the DC area to get her freedom ride up here! Special adoption considerations: Because Toto was transferred to Lucky Dog before she could be altered, she is not yet spayed. She is scheduled for spay soon after arrival in the DC area; however, if she is adopted before then, her adopters must assume responsibility for her spay. But with a slightly less adventurous life. The shelter staff told her all about the tornado and the Tin Man and the Cowardly Lion and all the other occupants of the Land of Oz and she said that while all that might be fun for some, she'd like to opt out. Long sniffy walks, romps in the park, trips to the beach, the mountains, Starbucks for pup cups - that's more her speed. Making new pup and people pals along the way - yes, please! Most of all, though, she wants to know she's safe and loved and under her own roof. Shelter staff say she is very sweet and submissive. She does great in playgroup with other dogs, too, once she has warmed up. She promises adoring gazes and kisses and loyal companionship for all her days. What do you say? The individual responsible for the dog you are interested in adopting - a position we call the “adoption coordinator” - will then set up a time to discuss your application over the telephone. The adoption coordinator will check your vet reference to make sure all current and past pets were kept up-to-date with their shots and medical care. The adoption coordinator will also set up a home visit with one of our trained volunteers. That individual will come to your home to ensure that it is a safe environment, to confirm that everyone in the home is on board with adopting a dog, and to discuss any other questions you may have about dog adoption!Shelter locationOur adoption events are held each weekend.
